Due to the new coronavirus epidemic, the Lisbon Handball Youth Cup will be postponed to June 19 & 20, 2021. Move Sports, the event organisers, are making this decision in line with the latest recommendations from the Portuguese Government, through its National Health Service (NHS), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Portuguese Handball Federation, which cancelled all handball activity in the country in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first edition of this new youth handball event, aimed at boys (U12 | U12 | U16 | U18) and girls (U11 | U13 | U15 | U17), was to be played in the coming month of June 2020, at the Lisbon University Stadium. This postponement is part of the effort to contain the new coronavirus epidemic. All over the world, handball international competitions are being cancelled by the European Handball Federation and the International Handball Federation, over concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Sportsmen and women all around the world will endure this ordeal and in the end, we're sure that the human spirit will prevail! We'll be back stronger than ever after this confinement period is over, and we'll all be back on the field training and competing together as a team!
To this end, Lisbon Handball Youth Cup is a great opportunity for teams from clubs, academies and schools all around the world to compete. LHYC is a fun and exciting competition between different countries, each one with its unique "style" of handball.
