This event has firmly established itself as a highlight on the youth rugby calendar across Europe, bringing together clubs, schools, and academies for a weekend filled with competition and camaraderie. The Move Sports Team is already in full swing, ensuring everything is in place for an event that will be remembered for years to come.

The Dove Men+Care Portugal Rugby Youth Festival is not just another tournament; it's a celebration of rugby, offering an unrivalled experience for youth teams. With matches featuring international rivals, a variety of leisure activities, and captivating entertainment, teams are set for an adventure they won't forget. What makes this event stand out is our commitment to excellence in every aspect – from top-notch facilities and organization to a plethora of entertainment and accommodation options.

The tournament takes place at the Estádio Universitário de Lisboa complex, boasting high-quality artificial grass pitches and a historic stadium that adds a sense of prestige to the matches.

Competition in Numbers

Our festival truly transcends borders, drawing teams from across the globe. Throughout these 16 years, we've had participation from local Portuguese clubs as well as teams from five continents, including rugby powerhouses such as England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, the USA, Argentina, and Australia. This international flair is what makes our festival a global rugby gathering.

This year, we're looking at:

  • 8 Rugby Pitches
  • 11 Countries
  • 2,700 participants (players and staff)
  • 101 Teams, including 34 foreign and 67 Portuguese teams
  • 40 Referees
  • 276 Rugby Matches

In just two days, around 276 rugby matches will unfold across eight pitches, providing a perfect stage for the aspiring rugby stars of tomorrow. The festival's format ensures every team gets to compete against international opponents, with group phase matches on Saturday leading up to the playoffs and finals on Sunday. The tournament’s flexible format guarantees each team at least five matches over the weekend, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for all.

New Features for This Year

This year, we're excited to introduce a dedicated app for registered participants to access important tournament information easily. Additionally, we'll be streaming games live, bringing the action directly to those who can’t attend personally to the tournament. And a variety of initiatives are in place to energize the event further.

Partnerships and Refereeing Excellence

The week before the Dove Men+Care Portugal Rugby Youth Festival, Lisbon will host a match official’s training camp, featuring a group of referees from the Rugby Europe panel, in a partnership with Move Sports. They'll be joined by performance reviewers and match official coaches to ensure the highest refereeing standards. Notably, games in the U17 and U19 categories will be officiated by Rugby Europe referees, under the supervision of Rugby Europe referee manager Joel Dumé and his support team.
