Ahhhh... The summer, the holidays... it's easy to relax and stop physical activity altogether. We know it's challenging to combine the lack of routines with sports. Also, it's hot and therefore sports aren't much of an attractive proposition as during the rest of the year. This summer, there's also COVID-19 placing a series of restrictions and limitations on sports that make it difficult for those who wish to keep active.
“In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October”, once said the Scottish poet Alexander Smith. That was the feeling amongst the Irish, Chinese, Finnish and Swedish teams that came to Lisbon for a football, rugby and field hockey sports tour, or otherwise to participate in the 3rd edition of our amazing youth football tournament, LFYC.
Beijing Dongcheng U15 girls' team spent a week in Lisbon for the football tour of their lives! Not only did they get the chance to play a handful of football matches against numerous international opponents, enhancing their skills and experience, but they also got to appreciate our fair capital, Lisbon.
Move Sports organised a great football tour for the U16 boys' team from Atherton Town FC, a club that is home to three senior and 20 junior teams near Manchester, UK. For five days, the lads played three friendly matches against local teams, watched a live Portuguese championship match at one of the Euro 2004 stadiums and still had the time to try out the beach. What a blast!
For most of the world, August in Portugal is a time of great fun. Sun, beach, intense nightlife. For us, August is also a time of great fun, but slightly different fun. Fun for us is to welcome a USA soccer girls team and fix a game with Sporting CP, one of the great European clubs.
Sports is serious business for the North-Americans. They know that the road to victory goes through a lot of work and also to learn from the best. In this way, it makes perfect sense that in recent times several US college soccer teams have asked us about our training camps in Portugal.
