Bimbo Global Race: the biggest race in the world is back in Lisbon

Bimbo Global Race is known as the biggest race in the world, as it takes place in several cities around the world simultaneously. The event is back this September and Lisbon is one of the cities where it takes place. The 7th edition of the Bimbo Global Race will be hybrid, with both in-person and virtual events. This way, runners from all over the world can compete with each other. The ultimate goal is to help those most in need: For every runner, Bimbo will donate 20 slices of bread, regardless of the number of kilometers run.

With the motto, You Run. We Donate, Bimbo set out to gather the largest number of runners from around the world to surpass the more than 5.8 million slices donated in the 2021 edition. Last year, around 295 000 people participated.

In 2022, the race will take place in 13 cities in ten countries. In the case of Portugal, the race will take place at Ribeira das Naus, in Lisbon, on September 25. The virtual race happens from September 19 through 25.

There are different races for all types of runners. If you are an experienced athlete, go for the 10-kilometer race. For beginners or families, there is a five-kilometer hike. There is also the Kids Race, a round trip on Avenida Ribeira das Naus.

Registration is now open on the website, through the official partner website, and also via the Bimbo Global Race app. The app also helps participants prepare for the race and offers tips to manage the aftermath, with healthy recipes, monthly challenges, and countless other information.

The app has been improved to offer a more complete experience. Users can sign up, track and share their runs, read the latest news about #BIMBOGLOBALRACE2022, and get nutrition tips and updates on the challenges of training. The app is available for iOS and Android. If you participated and used the app last year, make sure to update.

If you want to keep a souvenir of your participation, a free virtual kit or a physical kit with the official shirt and medal are available at an additional cost (only available in selected countries). The virtual kit consists of augmented reality filters on the event's Facebook and Instagram accounts: users can try on the shirt, place the medal and share the respective photo. For the in-person event, there are awards: the best time per category (female and male) will win a trip to the next year’s host city.

“We are very happy to be able to celebrate in person this next edition of the Bimbo Global Race. It makes us very proud to announce this seventh edition of the most important sporting event that we hold at Grupo Bimbo at a global level, which this year will take place on September 25. This is an event to enjoy an active morning with family and friends while helping those who need it most”, explained Bernardo Caupers, marketing director of Grupo Bimbo in Portugal.

After completing each challenge and race, participants are encouraged to share their photos and videos on social media with the hashtag #GER2022 or #YouRunWeDonate. Jump on over to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to get the latest news on the Bimbo Global Race 2022.
