We are moved by our passion for sports. That's why we founded Move Sports: to share our love. Sports go beyond the physical aspect: mind and body must walk (run, swim, jump!) side by side to make us better, to get us past our limits. We believe that physical activity and competitive sports can be transformative.
One of the things this time in isolation brought were a whole lot of memories. At home, each of one of us has had the time to think back to good moments lived, to revisit photo albums, to recall trips and tours, re-watch some movies, and, of course, to remember some plays, matches and big sports moments that stuck with us. The same happened to us. Sports TV channels have been broadcasting some of the best and most striking moments in world sports, so we decided to revisit the 2016 Euro Championship and the Portuguese path to victory.
This time we're living in brought a lot of bad news. But this highly unusual and unprecedented situation that messed with everyone also has a silver lining. We could mention the increased solidarity or the social consensus over common good policies that this event ultimately brought forward, but today we choose to address something more particular that has everything to do with all of us at Move Sports. People are exercising at home now more than ever, making the most of their time by working out and staying fit. And that is a good vibe that came to stay.
While we experience this time of social distancing and confinement, when all the world seems like it's frozen and our lives are left on hold, there's time to think about everything we lived, the good and the bad things. So we got thinking about what we're proud of as a country and all we've conquered in sports. Portugal is a country of great conquests!
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an annual celebration of the power of sport to drive social change, community development and to foster peace and understanding. To celebrate this day, even as we fight the COVID-19 epidemic, let's keep physically active, healthy and supportive of our communities: together we will prevail during this ordeal!
It has been abundantly proven that physical exercise is beneficial, both physically and psychologically. The old saying, "a healthy mind in a healthy body", has shown to be accurate by studies. Empirically, you can personally testify to a substantial improvement in your quality of life if you do some exercise.
